How Cottage Cakes was Born

Founded by Chef Sara Lee, Cottage Cakes aims to disrupt an industry that has largely remained unchanged for generations.

A home cook turned pastry chef, Sara saw first-hand how difficult it is to open a bakery no matter how great your culinary skills are. Throughout her journey she met and talked with other incredible home cooks and bakers who wanted to start selling their products, but didn't have the resources or know how to start a bakery or even a home business.

Finally, a year after launching her own cottage bakery, she had a Eureka moment. What if other bakers didn't have to struggle like she did to develop their own business and brand awareness just to get customers. What if there was a platform that already had household recognition and all home-bakers had to do was what they are already good at? Thus Cottage Cakes was born.

Now consumers don't have to rely on expensive patisseries or artificial-tasting grocery store cakes and can instead connect with the local artisans and bakers in their communities to source custom cakes and all kinds of treats for every occasion.
