Growing up in the 70s and 80s bean pies were a staple in my community and a cherished tradition in my family. These nutrient-packed, flavorful pies were more than just desserts—they were symbols of cultural pride and community bonding. I am sure there are others who make them but it is hard to find a bean pie ordinarily. As I got older, my love for baking never faded, but my lifestyle began to shift. Dairy products no longer agreed with me, and I embraced a vegan diet. Determined to keep the tradition of bean pies alive in a way that aligned with my new lifestyle, I set out to create a vegan version that would be just as delicious and comforting as the original. This journey led to the birth of *Pie Me Up*, a bakery dedicated to crafting plant-based pies (and other baked goods) that not only honor my roots but also cater to the growing demand for vegan-friendly options. My signature Vegan Bean Pie is a fusion of tradition and innovation—made with wholesome, plant-based ingredients while staying true to the flavors that I grew up with. Today, *Pie Me Up* offers a unique take on this classic dessert, and I’m proud to share the rich history and heart behind each pie with a wider audience. Whether through pop-ups, partnerships with vegan restaurants, or individual orders, my mission is to spread the joy of bean pies far and wide, one slice at a time.
