Hello, I'm butter + sugar.

I’m Maya and I’m the owner and baker at butter + sugar. I have been baking GF for nearly 15 years​,​ ever since my son was diagnosed with Celiac. I’ve been where so many of you are completely overwhelmed by a Celiac diagnosis. In our first months of going GF​,​ I spent hours upon hours researching brands and their gluten-free status. Grocery shopping became a multiple-hour event as I read and re-read labels. I never left the house without a snack and back-up snack for my son​,​ and I fretted over every decision I made when it came to food for my family. Fast-forward to now​,​ and I am here to say… it gets easier. You can still enjoy food. You can still go to restaurants. You can still travel. Things may take a bit more planning​,​ but a Celiac or gluten-allergy diagnosis does not mean the end of the world. I promise. Let me help you. I started butter + sugar to share both my undeniably delicious GF baked goods and my GF knowledge with others. I want to help you feel more comfortable as you make the transition to GF either for yourself or for a loved one. I want to bring food experiences back to you and I want you to see that the world is still your gluten-free oyster.
